Introduction to the Dzi Bead
Dzi beads are known as one of the seven treasures in Tibet and major regions of the Himalayas. The precious protection amulet is famed throughout the world because of its miraculous properties that releases the highest kind of blessings, energy and protection to the wearer.

The legend of the Dzi
The Dzi Bead have appeared in Tibetan folklore and legends for more than a millennia, and stories about the mythical crystal has been passed down for over centuries through word of mouth and storytelling.

The earliest official record of the presence of the Dzi bead is during the Tang Dynasty of China, from years 618 AD to 907 AD. Historic archives state that during the wedding ceremony of Princess Wen Cheng (niece of the powerful Emperor Taizong) to the ruler of Tibet, Songsten Gampo, the most expensive nuptial gift was a Buddha statue splendidly adorned with hundreds of Dzi beads - including nine-eyed Dzi beads, triple-eyed Dzi beads, double-eyed Dzi beads, tiger-tooth & longevity Dzi beads and others (this famed Buddha statue is currently placed in Lhasa, Jokhang Monastery).

The Dzi Bead urban legend
A more recent urban legend doing the rounds on the Internet is that of the 'Nagoya plane crash'. A Taiwanese businessman escaped from a plane crash where there were only two survivors. He claimed that this was due to the 9-eyed Dzi he had recently purchased for his own protection. As a result of this story making the news, Dzi stones have become extremely sought after in South East Asian countries and beyond.
